Friday Learning First Block

You and your partner need to share this computer.
When your partner is working on the fraction games, you do your writing.

After 45 minutes, swap over.

Click on the link. Choose games that you think will help you practice what you know about fractions.
Try three games for 10 minutes each.
Swap with your partner.
Writing.
1).Read about the snail race and the sink hole.

2).Choose one.

3).Answer the questions for that article. Glue your copy of the questions in your book.

4).Next choose a type of writing you would like to do connected to this article(- for example, do you want to write a story about the event or as one of the characters in the article?
Do you want to write an information report about sink holes of snails? Do you want to write a letter to the editor about something in the story? Do you want to write the NEXT newspaper article- what happened after this event? Do you want to write a poem describing an aspect?)

5).Choose how you want to write your ideas. Make sure you follow the writing process you have been learning with, in class.

Tuesday Human Rights Research

First Block.

Watch this video. (If it doesn't work try here: Website- watch history of human rights).

Write your ideas in your writing book.

What is your definition of Human Rights?

Why do we have them?

Where did they come from?

Why is it important to know about human rights?

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND OUT ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS?

2). Select a Whakatauki or proverb from the below list.
What does it mean?
Try to represent it as an image- without using words.

He waka eke noa
A canoe which we are all in with no exception

He panehe toki ka tu te tangitangi kai.
A little axe well-used brings heaps of food.

I AM ME, YOU ARE YOU BUT WE CAN GO ON TOGETHER AS ONE
KO AU KO AU, KO KOE KO KOE, ME HAERE NGATAHI TAUA. KOTAHITANGA
HE ORANGA NGAAKAU, HE PIKINGA WAIORA
POSITIVE FEELINGS IN YOUR HEART WILL ENHANCE YOUR SENSES OF SELF WORTH.
He taonga rongonui te aroha ki te tangata
Goodwill towards others is a precious treasure

He panehe toki ka tu te tangitangi kai.
A little axe well-used brings heaps of food.

Be the change you wish to see in the world- Mahatma Ghandi
WHIRIA TE TANGATA
WEAVE THE PEOPLE TOGETHER

AHAKOA HE ITI HE POUNAMU
EVEN THOUGH IT IS SMALL IT IS A TREASURE
Do a draft copy and then show the other R12 person in your room. DO NOT HELP THEM- what do they see in your image? What ideas do they get?
DO NOT TELL THEM!!!

Change your image to make it communicate the message better- show your person again. Talk it through with them. Any other changes to help communicate your proverb?
If you are happy with it, add the proverb somewhere on your image, we will do a good copy on Friday morning- be ready!!!
